Bears Roll Past Hampton University, 12-2
Hampton, VA- The bats continued to stay hot for the Brown
University softball team as it defeated Hampton University 12-2
yesterday afternoon. With the win, the Bears are the No. 2 seed
going into bracket play this afternoon in a single-elimination
bracket.
Against Hampton,. Brown was led by senior Katie Rothamel’s
2-for-4 performance at the plate which included two doubles, three
runs scored, two RBI and a walk. Sophomore Sandra Mastrangelo also
had solid play at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored,
one RBI, a walk and a hit-by-pitch. Sophomore Kate Strobel went
3-for-4 and was just a double away from hitting for the cycle. She
had a single, triple, and a homerun, and also tallied three runs
scored, two RBI, a walk and two stolen bases for the Bears.
Freshman pitcher Liz DiMascio received the win at the mound. In
five innings, she gave up just two runs, three hits and struck out
seven Hampton batters.
