Three Bears Earn District I CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American Honors

Brown junior Kerrilynn Carney (North Smithfield, RI), senior Jill Mansfield (East Windsor, NJ), and sophomore Lindsay Cunningham (Cumberland, RI) have been named District I CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American honors in women's soccer. A defender, Carney was named to the First Team, while Mansfield and Cunningham each earned Second Team honors. As part of the First Team, Carney will be forwarded onto the national ballot, along with the First Team honorees from the seven other districts. The team is selected by voting members of the College Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA).

A Neuroscience concentrator with a 3.75 GPA, Carney has played in all 33 games with 32 starts over the past two seasons. After making the team as a walk-on in 2004, Carney has been a vital part of the Brown backfield for the past two seasons. She currently ranks fifth on the team in scoring with six points (2g,2a), including scoring a goal in Brown's 2-1 victory over then #13 Boston College, the Bears' first win over BC in ten years. A center back, she has helped to anchor a defense that has earned four shutouts this season, including a 0-0 tie with #24 Boston University. The Bears also have a 1.00 GAA on the season, allowing no more then two goals in any game and allowing one goal or less in 11 games, including nine of the last 11.

A midfielder, Mansfield is concentrating in Sociology and has a cumulative GPA of 3.46. In 16 games this year, Mansfield currently ranks second on the team and fifth in the Ivy League with a career-high 19 points. She is also second on the team in both goals (6) and assists (7), and ranks fifth in the Ivy League in goals and second in assists. A two-time All-Ivy selection, Mansfield scored two goals in the Bears' 4-0 victory over Princeton earlier this season and she has scored a goal in each of Brown's past two games. An offensive weapon with a flip throw-in, Mansfield currently ranks 20th all-time at Brown in career points (34), sixth all-time at Brown in career assists (18), and eighth all-time at Brown in assists in a season (7).

A forward, Cunningham is undecided on a concentration and has a cumulative GPA of 3.86. An Honorable Mention All-Ivy selection last season, Cunningham is currently third on the team (sixth in the League) in both points (18), and goals (5), which ranks eighth in the Ivy League. The Ivy League leader this season with eight assists, Cunningham has tallied three assists this season on game-winning goals and has notched at least one point in each of Brown's past seven games as the team has gone 5-0-2 during this time. The Bears' leading scorer a year ago with 13 points (6g,1a), Cunningham currently ranks 17th all-time at Brown with nine career assists and fifth all-time at Brown with eight assists this season.
