Women's Soccer Defeated by #19 Dartmouth, 2-1
The Big Green got a shot past Brown's Mary Jo Markle (West Chester, PA/Henderson) 22:27 into the game to take a 1-0 lead.
Almost five minutes later, Caitlin Carey (Boxford, MA/Masconomet Regional) knotted the game at 1-1 as she converted on an arching pass from Michaela Sewall (Newton, MA/Milton Academy) that Dartmouth's goalie misread.
The Big Green tallied the game-winner with five minutes left in the game, keeping their Ivy League title hopes alive as they remain tied with Princeton for first place in the league at 5-1.
The Bears, who have one game remaining in the season, need one more victory to tie the school record for wins in a season (13, 1977, 1984). They have not won 12 games since the 1990 season when they finished with a 12-3-0 record.
The Brown defense, led by the goalkeeping tandem of Markle and freshman Sarah Gervais (Harrisville, RI/Mt. St. Charles Academy), has allowed just nine goals on the season. Markle stopped two first half shots, while Gervais made five saves during the second half.
The Bears will host Yale in their season finale on Sunday, November 5 at 4:00 p.m. The game marks the final game for seniors, Raffaella Kalishman, Michaela Rooney, Bekah Splaine, and Page Weller.
