Freshman forward Lindsay Cunningham (Cumberland, RI), of the Brown women's soccer team has been selected this week's Ivy League Rookie of the Week for her play in leading the Bears to a 1-1 (2ot) tie with Cornell.
Cunningham continues to lead the Bears up front against the Big Red, scoring her team-leading fifth goal of the season. After Cornell had taken an early 1-0 lead, Cunningham tied the game at 1-1 just before half-time with a shot that sailed into the upper right corner of the net from 20 yards out. She has played in all 14 games, earning five starts, and leads the Bears with 5-1-11 numbers. In five Ivy League games, she leads the Bears in the League as well, as four of her five goals have come in Ivy League play.
Cunningham ranks among the top players in the League in conference games only in nearly every offensive category, including shots (2nd), shots per game (2nd), points (1st), and goals (1st).
After two straight road games, the Bears return to Stevenson Field this week for their final two home games of the season. Brown hosts cross-town rival Providence College on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. and Penn on Sunday, October 30, at 1:00 p.m.
