Women's Soccer Europe 2003, Day 2
Aug. 18, 2003
Day two started off with a boat cruise down the River Thames. The guide pointed out several landmarks such as Government and Royalty buildings, Tower of London, London Bridge, the New Millenium Bridge, and finally the Shakespeare Playhouse. After the cruise, some players ventured into the Tower of London to see the Crown Jewels, while others chose to walk around the area.
It was then off to Piccadilly Circus for shopping. After shopping the team met at Planet Hollywood for a lively lunch and then went back to the hotel to prepare for their first game. In their successful opener, the Bears defeated the Queens Park Rangers, 7-0.
Brown took a 3-0 lead in the first half with goals from sophomore Meghan Schreck, sophomore Dana Muhlfelder, and senior Kristin Ferrell. In the second half, the Bears increased their lead on the strength of four more goals with sophomore Tory Manchester, sophomore Jamie Johnson, senior Rachel Roberts, and senior Julie Herrold each finding the back of the net. All 23 players saw time in the match, and the Bears concluded the day with pizza in the Jarvis Hotel lobby.
