PROVIDENCE, RI - Phil Pincince, head coach of the women's soccer team, has announced the Class of 2006, who will join the Bears this fall. The Class is 11 players strong and consists of athletes from eight different states, including three from California and two from Rhode Island.
Kara Aurbach, a back/midfielder, is from Manalapan, NJ, where she went to Manalapan High School and played for FC Delco. Robin Averbeck, also a back/midfielder, hails from Fond du Lac, WI, where she went to L.P. Goodrich High School and played for FC Milwaukee Nationals. Tory Dunnan, a midfielder/forward, went to the National Cathedral School in Washington, DC, her hometown, and also played for the Bethesda Falcons.
Jamie Johnson, also a midfielder/forward, hails from North Kingstown, RI, where she went to North Kingstown High School and also played for the Rhode Island Rays.
Fellow Rhode Islander, Stephanie Pincince, a midfielder/forward, is from Cumberland, RI, where she went to Mount St. Charles, and played for Post Road. Amanda Jones, a forward/midfielder, is from Plano, TX, where she went to Plano West Senior High School and played for Solar.
One of three newcomers from California, Kim LaVere, a back/midfielder, is from Chatsworth, where she went to Harvard-Westlake, and played for the Santa Anita Strikers. Tory Manchester, a midfielder/back, hails from Costa Mesa where she went to Newport Harbor High School and also played for the Santa Anita Strikers. Dana Muhlfelder, from Los Altos, is also a midfielder/back, and went to Homestead High School, while playing for the Pleasanton Rage.
Rounding out the newcomers are Meghan Schreck and Christine Serdjenian. Schreck is a midfielder/back from Hudson, MA where she went to Hudson High School and played for Post Road, along with Pincince. Serdjenian, a forward/midfielder hails from Waterville, ME, where she went to Waterville High School and played for the Maine Novas.
