Brown Women's Soccer Shuts-out Yale, 2-0

Junior Julie Herrold (La Crescenta, CA) converted a penalty kick in the 78th minute and senior Caitlin Carey (Boxford, MA) scored on a breakaway three minutes later to lead the Brown women's soccer team to a 2-0 Ivy League win over Yale at Stevenson Field.
The win gives Brown its first Ivy win of the season and lifts the Bears to a 6-9-2 overall record, 1-5-1 in Ivy League play. Yale drops to 11-4-2 overall and 3-3-1 in the Ivy League.
Yale was called for a hand ball in the box at the at the 77:55 mark. Herold stepped up and drilled the penalty kick into the lower right side of the net to give the Bears a 1-0 lead.
With Yale pushing up in the last 10 minutes, Carey scored on a break away for the Bears, taking the ball 50 yards from the net, dribbling in and tucking the ball past Elis goalkeeper Lindsay Sabel at the 81:23 mark.
Brown keeper Sarah Gervais came up big for the Bears when she stopped Yale's Chandra King on a penalty shot in the 85th minute, first making a sprawling save on King'spenalty shot and then making a point blank save on King's follow-up shot. Gervais finished the game with 9 saves.
