Nov. 4, 2001

NEW HAVEN, CT - Yale University (6-8-2, 1-3-2) scored three unanswered goals to break open a 2-1 game and defeat Brown (3-10-1, 0-5-1), 5-1 in an Ivy League contest on Sunday afternoon.

The Bulldogs got on the board early, taking a 1-0 lead less than 10 minutes into the game and added another ten minutes later to take a 2-0 lead into the second half.

However, senior leading scorer Kim Lanzire (Bristol, RI) received the ball from freshman Michelle Sriwongtong (Rosemead, CA) and fired it into the back of the net to bring Brown to within one with just over 35 minutes left to play.

The Bulldogs then went on their scoring spree and tallied three goals in 13 minutes to break open the game and defeat Brown 5-1.

Sophomore Sarah Gervais (Harrisville, RI) made one save for the Bears, who continue action on Saturday, November 10, when they host Dartmouth in a 7:00 p.m. game. The contest marks the final game for the four seniors: Co-Captains Lanzire and Kelly Smith (Birmingham, MI), Laura Iden (Kenilworth, NJ) and Mary Jo Markle (West Chester, PA).
