Women's Soccer Drops 3-0 Decision to Hartford

Oct. 10, 2001

WEST HARTFORD, CT - The University of Hartford (8-2) won its eighth straight game, 3-0, over Brown (2-6) on Tuesday night in a Northeast Regional women's soccer contest.

After nearly 72 minutes of scoreless action, the Hawks scored three goals in a 3:53 minute span to win the game.

Hartford got on the board at 71:19 when a shot from the top corner of the box sailed over the head of Brown sophomore Sarah Gervais (Harrisville, RI). Just 2:06 later, the Hawks increased their lead to 2-0 when a corner kick deflected off the head of a player in the box and into the goal. Hartford completed the scoring 1:47 later.

Playing with just 12 players due to an injured Brown team, the Bears kept Hartford off the board for 71:19. Senior Mary Jo Markle (West Chester, PA) made two saves in 45 minutes of action, while Gervais had three.

The Bears will continue action on Sunday, October 14, when they host Princeton at 5:00 p.m. in an Ivy League contest.
