Women's Soccer Drops 1-0 2 OT Decision to Columbia

NEW YORK, NY - The Columbia Lions (7-2, 1-1) struck in the 113th minute to defeat Brown (2-5, 0-2) in an Ivy League women's soccer contest at Columbia University Friday night.
After 90 minutes of scoreless action, the game went into overtime followed by double overtime. Jane Whiting scored the game-winning goal for Columbia with 7:55 left in the second overtime period on a header from a long pass.
The Bears had many opportunities throughout the entire game, but could not finish, including two shots that hit the crossbar.
Janine Ierardi made one save for the Lions. Senior Mary Jo Markle (West Chester, PA) stopped one shot in 60 minutes of action, while while sophomore Sarah Gervais (Harrisville, RI) made two saves in 52 minutes.
The Bears will continue action on Tuesday, October 9, when they travel to Hartford for a 7:00 game.
