Sept. 27, 2003
The Brown women's soccer team dropped a difficult decision to Dartmouth College at home Saturday afternoon, moving its record to 4-2-2 on the season. Opening up the first half, Bruno fought hard for possession as most of the action stayed within Brown's defensive end. Sophomore Tory Manchester (Costa Mesa, CA) and senior Kristin Ferrell (Concord, MA) were instrumental in pushing the ball up field to senior Michaela Sewall (Newton, MA) and freshman Kathryn Moos (Wayzata, MN). Sewall led the Bears attack, creating numerous opportunities around Dartmouth's goal. Brown ended the first half tied at 0-0.
The second half saw Bruno's intensity pick up as sophomore Christine Serdjenian (Waterville, ME) and senior Amy Baumann (Wyncote, PA) set up a few breakaway situations, which forced Dartmouth's defense to react. Dartmouth scored their first goal at 57:04 off a cross and a header that beat senior goalkeeper Sarah Gervais (Harrisville, RI). Brown then had a flurry of shots but was unable to find the back of the net. Dartmouth responded with their second goal of the game at 72:56 off another cross and a shot into the far corner of the net, flying high and just beating Gervais. Dartmouth's third goal was kicked in at 82:48.
Gervais recorded eight saves in the game.
Brown continues action Wednesday Oct. 1st at 7pm on Stevenson field taking on Providence College.
