HARWICH, MA - Playing in the second game on Sunday, and the final game of the ECAC Women's Soccer Classic, the Brown Women's Soccer team (2-2) dropped a 2-1 decision to Hofstra (4-2-1) in a non-league contest.
After a scoreless first half, Brown scored its only goal of the game four minutes after halftime. Sophomore forward Kathleen Waddell (Minnetonka, MN) headed the ball in the net off a sideline throw-in from sophomore Jill Mansfield (East Windsor, NJ).
For twenty minutes, the Bears held onto their 1-0 lead as each team battled for position and ball control. However, at 75:14, Hofstra scored its first goal to even the score 1-1. Just five minutes later, the Pride whisked a second goal by Brown's Hillary Wilson (Monterey, CA), which would prove to be the game-winner.
In net for the Bears, Wilson rejected 12 shots. Sophomore Kathryn Moos (Wayzata, MN) was honored with the Player of the Game award for Brown, which continues action on Friday, September 17, when it hosts the University of New Hampshire at 7:00 p.m.
