2011 Fall Academic All-Ivy Announced
December 13, 2011The Ivy League released its fall list of Academic All-ivy honorees, with 10 Brown student-athletes being recognized. The five males and five females were starters or key reserves on their respective varsity teams and carry a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average.

Kagawa Named Third Team NSCAA All-Region
Brown University senior back Allison Kagawa (Mililani, HI) has been named to the NSCAA Division I All-Region Team in an announcement made by the organization. The Bears’ first all-region selection since Jill Mansfield ’07 (third team) and Kathryn Moos ’07 (first team) in 2006, Kagawa was named Third Team All-Mid-Atlantic. She was one of six Ivy Leaguers selected, joining three from Penn and one each from Harvard and Yale.

Lesbirel Selected to Play in NEWISA Senior Bowl; Kagawa & Barrett Named All-NEWISA
Brown University senior Marybeth Lesbirel (Holmdel, NJ) was one of 42 players in New England selected to participate in the 2011 New England Women’s Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) annual Senior Bowl. In addition, senior Allison Kagawa (Mililani, HI) and sophomore goalie MC Barrett (Ithaca, NY) were both named All-NEWISA. Kagawa was named First Team All-NEWISA, while Barrett earned Second Team honors. All three were instrumental in helping Brown to its second consecutive winning season and its first 10-win season since 2003.

Brown Places Five on 2011 All-Ivy Women’s Soccer Team
Brown University senior Allison Kagawa (Mililani, HI) led five different women’s soccer All-Ivy honorees, as the defender was a unanimous selection to the All-Ivy First Team in a vote by the League’s eight head coaches. Joining Kagawa on the first team was sophomore goalie MC Barrett (Ithaca, NY), while senior Gloria Chun (Irvine, CA) earned Second Team All-Ivy honors. Senior captain Sarah Hebert-Seropian (Vaudreuil-Dorion, Quebec) and junior Eliza Marshall (North Andover, MA) were both named Honorable Mention All-Ivy.
