Women’s Soccer’s Lehan, Waldman Gain Spots in NEWISA Senior Bowl

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University women's soccer seniors Maclaine Lehan and Mikela Waldman have earned spots in the 2017 NEWISA Senior Bowl, the New England Intercollegiate Women's Soccer Association announced on Saturday.

The contest is tentatively slated for Sunday, Dec. 3 at 2:00 p.m. at Merrimack College in North Andover, Mass.

A native of Shrewsbury, Mass., Lehan made starts in all seven of the Bears' games in Ivy League play after missing the first half of the season due to injury. She helped Brown post four shutouts in Ivy League action, giving the team four clean sheets in conference competition for the first time since 1992.

Waldman, a resident of San Francisco, Calif., led the Bears in points (20), goals (seven), assists (six), game-winning goals (four), shots (37), and shots on goal (24) this past fall. In the Ivy League rankings, she finished fourth in points, seventh in goals, and second in assists. She became the first Brown student-athlete to tally 20 or more points in a season since 2006.

The duo helped Brown post an 11-5-0 record this fall, giving the Bears their most wins since going 13-4-0 in 2000. Brown also set a single-season program record with four overtime victories.
