Women's Soccer Falls in Overtime to Florida Atlantic, 1-0

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Brown women's soccer team battled Conference USA foe, Florida Atlantic, through 90 minutes of scoreless action until an Owls golden goal in the 94th minute foiled the Bears, 1-0 at the FAU Soccer Stadium.

Brown goalkeeper Mallory Yant made four saves but was under siege all afternoon as the Owls uncorked 15 shots at the Bears' net.  The senior from Fenton, Mizzouri drops to 2-2 this season while Florida Atlantic goalkeeper Sydney Drinkwater improves to 4-3-1 with the win.

A stifling Owls defense limited Brown to just two shot attempts all afternoon, with only one finding the target as Allie Reilly (Lawrenceville, N.J.) recorded the lone shot on goal in the 18th minute of play.

A back-and-forth affair saw little offense, but Brown looked to leave FAU Soccer Stadium with a win late as freshman Katy Schmidt (Corvallis, Ore.) sent a header towards a goal, however her attempt just sailed wide.

After nearly four played in extra time, the host Owls finally gave the game its first and only goal as Maddie Pung's shot sailed over Yant's head and into the goal for the game-winner.

The Owls outshot the Bears 15-2 and held a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Brown will return to action on Thursday night for a non-conference matchup against UMass at Stevenson Field beginning at 7 p.m.
