PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown women's soccer head coach Phil Pincince has announced the team's schedule for the upcoming 2014 season.
A 17-game slate, consisting of two opponents that appeared in last season's NCAA Tournament, highlights the 2014 schedule. The Bears will host eight matches on the friendly confines of Stevenson Field, including four Ivy League tilts.
Brown opens the 2014 season on the road against St. John's on Friday, Sept. 5. The Red Storm advanced to the second round of last season's NCAA Tournament, ultimately falling to Arkansas, 1-0, in Durham, North Carolina. The Bears return to Providence on Sunday, Sept. 7 for their home opener versus the Blue Hens of Delaware before hitting the road for two straight contests against cross-city rival, Providence (Sept. 11) and Florida Atlantic (Sept. 14).
The Bears welcome UMass to Stevenson Field on Thursday, Sept. 18 before traveling down to Storrs, Connecticut to battle UConn on Sunday, Sept. 21. After a mid-week home contest versus Sacred Heart on Wednesday, Sept. 24, Brown opens its Ivy schedule at Dartmouth on Sunday, Sept. 28 to close out the month.
After Brown battles in-state rival Bryant on Wednesday Oct. 1, the Bears entertain Columbia on Saturday, Oct. 4 before hosting Quinnipiac on Tuesday, Oct. 7. Brown will embark on a two-game road trip with a contest at Princeton on Saturday, Oct. 11 and Columbus Day matinee at Marist on Monday, Oct. 13.
The 2014 season concludes with three of the final four games at home as Brown hosts Harvard, an NCAA Tournament participant, on Saturday, Oct. 18 and Cornell on Sunday, Oct. 26. The Bears will play its final road contest at Penn on Saturday, Nov. 1 before returning home for Senior Day versus Yale on Friday, Nov. 7.
