CAMBRIDGE, MA – Elizabeth Weisman scored the game-winning goal just 1:23 into the first overtime to lift Harvard (8-4-3) to a 1-0 win over the Brown women's soccer team (7-7-0) in a non-league contest Wednesday evening at Soldiers Field Soccer Stadium.
The game-winning goal came on one of Harvard's eight corner kicks. Lauren Urke sent the ball into the corner and toward the Brown box. With a scrum in front, Brooke Dickens headed the ball to Weisman, who chipped a shot into the right side of the goal for the victory.
Junior Amber Bledsoe (Cincinnati, OH) played her second consecutive complete game and made five saves, while Harvard's Bethany Kanten also recorded five saves. Brown led in shots, 14-13, but the Crimson held the advantage in corner kicks, 8-3.
Brown resumes action on Saturday when it takes on Penn at 5:00 p.m. in Philadelphia.
