PROVIDENCE, RI - Brown University women's soccer coach Phil Pincince has recently announced his team's 2011 schedule. A total of 17 games will be played, including seven on Stevenson Field. The Bears finished the 2010 season 7-6-4 overall, while posting a 5-1-4 record in home games.
The Bears open 2011 on the road at the Liberty Tournament in Lynchburg, VA, where they will face host Liberty on Friday, September 2, and then Coastal Carolina on Sunday, September 4. After returning to Providence, Brown will open its home schedule with a pair of non-league games a midweek showdown against cross-town rival Providence College on Wednesday, September 7, and then a Saturday afternoon tilt against Vermont on September 10.
Brown will then play three more non-league games, alternating home and away locations, at UNH, against Sacred Heart, and at UMass, before opening the 2011 Ivy slate at home against Dartmouth on Sunday, September 25.
A game against in-state rival URI on Wednesday, September 28, in Kingston closes out the month of September.
Brown opens October with a pair of League games, as it travels to New York to face Columbia on October 1st and then hosts Princeton the following Saturday. After a mid-week game against Francis Marion on Wednesday, October 12, Brown travels up I95 to meet Harvard on Saturday, October 15th.
A non-league game at Holy Cross on Tuesday, October 18 closes out the non-league portion of the schedule, as Brown will conclude the year with three straight Ivy League games – at Cornell on Sunday, October 23, against Penn on Saturday, October 29, and at Yale on Saturday, November 5.
