Dec. 13, 2005
The Brown women's lacrosse team has announced captains for the upcoming season. Seniors Raychel Schumacher (Rochester, NY), Kate Staley (Needham, MA), and Meg Sullivan (Garden City, NY) will serve as tri-captains to lead the Bears during the 2006 season.
Schumacher has played in two games during two seasons with the Bears, while battling through injury. A vocal leader, she will be counted on to guide the Bears both on and off the field this year. A co-captain last season, Staley will serve as a captain for the second straight year. She has played in 44 of 45 games over the past three years and is a two-time All-Ivy honoree, earning Second Team recognition last season. In 2005, she finished second on the team with 34 points and was tied for the team lead in goals with 27. Sullivan is one of the Bears' most consistent midfielders, playing in all 30 games over the past two seasons. Last year, she led the Bears with 42 ground balls and contributed three points on offense.
Under the direction of second-year head coach Keely McDonald '00, the Bears open the 2006 season at home on February 25, when they host Sacred Heart at 3:00 p.m.
