May 14, 2002

PROVIDENCE, RI - Senior tri-captain Niki Caggiano (Freeport, NY) and sophomore Christine Anneberg (Denver, CO) of the Brown women's lacrosse team were selected to the 2002 IWLCA/US Lacrosse North All-Region Second Team as selected by the vote of the Regional All-American Committee.

The leading scorer for the Brown squad, Anneberg was named a Second Team All-Ivy selection earlier this week. A transfer to Brown this season, Anneberg was named the America East Rookie of the Year in 2001 while playing for the University of New Hampshire. She ended the year with 31-10-41 totals to go along with 26 ground balls, 12 caused turnovers and 15 draw controls. A natural athlete, Anneberg tallied at least a point in 12 of Brown's 14 games, including a stretch of seven in a row. She was held to one point just three times this season, against top programs, Dartmouth, Cornell, and Princeton, and had a 4-2-6 outing in three separate games to go along with a five-goal performance against UNH.

A one-time Ivy League Defensive Player of the week this season, Caggiano earned First Team Regional All-America honors last season to go along with Honorable Mention US Lacrosse All-America honors. A two-time Second Team All-Ivy goalie she posted a season-high 22 saves in Brown's win over Boston University. She set a new career mark if 660 career saves in four years with 181 this year. In addition, she also owns the record for saves in a season with 209, set last year. A four-time Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week during her career, her 22-save effort is a single-game-high in the League this season.

The Bears finished the 2002 season with a 5-9 record and a 1-6 mark in Ivy League games.
