CAMBRIDGE, MA - The Brown women's lacrosse team (5-9, 1-6) dropped an 11-10 overtime decision to Harvard (8-7, 2-5) on Wednesday evening at Jordan Field.

Brown took an early lead on goals by junior Courtney Johnson (Falmouth, MA) and sophomore Christine Anneberg (Denve, CO), that were scored 56 seconds apart from each other. However, Harvard reeled off four goals to take a 4-2 advantage at the 16:39 mark of the first half.

The Bears knotted the game at 4-4 with sophomore Laurel Pierpont (Jacksonville, FL) scoring her first of three goals at 21:09 and Anneberg adding her second at 22:04. The Crimson responded with two more of their own, taking a 6-4 lead at the break.

Pierpont and junior Bekah Rottenberg (Colrain, MA) tallied goals 23 seconds apart in the 13th minute of the second half, to again tie the contest, but Harvard took a 7-6 lead just a minute after Rottenberg's tally.

Brown then took a 9-7 lead during a span of 6:35 on goals from Pierpont, Rottenberg, and sophomore Katie Russell (San Francisco, MA). Harvard answered with two more goals in the final 4:50 to knot the game at 9-9 and sent it into overtime.

In the first of two three-minute overtimes, Harvard found the back of the net with just 32 seconds remaining to take a 10-9 lead. Rottenberg scored her third goal of the game just six seconds into the second overtime, but Harvard tallied the winner with 1:11 left to play and then held the Bears scoreless in the waning minutes.
