Providence, RI- The Brown women's lacrosse team improved to 5-8 on the season and 3-3 in the Ivy League on Saturday afternoon, defeating Penn (6-10, 2-5), 10-8, on Saturday afternoon at Stevenson Field. The Bears were led by senior Bekah Rottenberg (Colrain, MA), who notched four goals and one assist. With 120 career points, she has moved into seventh all-time on the career scoring list at Brown.

Penn took a quick 3-0 lead, scoring three goals in a span of 3:13, however the Bears responded with three goals of their own to knot the contest at 3-3 less than 10 minutes into the game. Sophomore Sarah Passano (Baltimore, MD) started the comeback at 6:07, while Rottenberg added Brown's second goal at 7:33 and junior Laurel Pierpont (Jacksonville, FL) tied the game at 8:06.

The Bears took a 4-3 lead just 2:04 later as Pierpont assisted a goal by freshman Kate Staley (Needham, MA). The Quakers tied the game at 4-4 at 11:47, but Brown regained the one-goal lead on a free position goal by senior Maggie Connolly (Manhasset, NY) at 15:12.

Brown added two more goals over the next four minutes as senior Jocelyn Moore (Washington, DC) and Rottenberg each scored to give the Bears their biggest lead of the game, 7-4. However, Penn scored two more goals before the end of the half, as Brown held onto a 7-6 lead at the Break.

The Quakers surged ahead with two goals in the first 1:31 of the second half, scored just 1:03 apart, to take an 8-7 lead and scored what would be their last goal of the game.

From there it was all Brown as Rottenberg knotted the contest just 15 seconds later and assisted Pierpont's second goal of the game, which would prove to be the game-winner at 9:50. Rottenberg added an insurance tally with just 2:20 remaining in the game.
