NEW HAVEN, CT - The Yale University women's lacrosse team outscored Brown 10-0 in the first half of play and the Bears (4-8, 1-3) were unable to recover as they fell to the Bulldogs, 14-6, on Wednesday afternoon.
After being held scoreless for the entire first half, Yale went up 11-0 less then one minute into the second half. Sophomore Mimi DeTolla (Stony Brook, NY) got the Bears on the board with 27:40 left to play with an unassisted goal.
The two teams traded goals in a span of 12:19 with junior leading scorer Amie Biros (Bethesda, MD) scoring for the Bears. DeTolla assisted a goal from classmate Justine Lupo (Ridgewood, NJ) with 11:35 left, sparking a three-goal Brown run as the Bears came to within 13-5 with 8:37 left on a goal by junior Jen Redd (Towson, MD).
After a Yale goal at 5:10, sophomore Hillary Anderson (Hinesburg, VT) scored her first career goal with 1:40 remaining for the 14-6 final.
Senior Jessica McNell (Darien, CT) earned the start in net and played the first 18:06, allowing seven goals. Sophomore Erin Walters (Garden City, NY) played the remainder of the game and stopped six shots.
The Bears will look to rebound on Saturday when they travel to Philadelphia, PA to face Penn at 2:00 p.m.
