CAMBRIDGE, MA - The Brown women's lacrosse team (1-3) dropped a 15-8 decision to Boston College on Wednesday night at MIT. Junior Kate Staley (Needham, MA) and sophomore Amie Biros (Bethesda, MD) led the Bears with two goals each.
Brown took a 2-0 lead in the opening eight minutes with back-to-back goals by Staley and Biros, before the Eagles notched three straight goals to take a 3-2 lead. Freshman Mimi DeTolla (Stony Brook, NY) and junior Ashley Holden (Alexandria, VA) each scored to give Brown a 4-3 lead, but BC closed the half with two more goals to take a 5-4 lead heading into the break.
The Eagles increased their lead to 6-4 just 28 seconds into the second half, but goals from sophomore Jen Redd (Towson, MD) and senior Sarah Passano (Baltimore, MD) at 24:17 and 23:16, respectively, tied the contest at 6-6. But that was as close as the Bears would get, as BC went on a 6-0 run over the next 10:04 to take a 12-6 lead with under 11:00 left in the game.
Staley added her second with 10:15 remaining for a 12-7 score, but the Eagles closed the game with a 3-1 run for the final, 15-8.
Brown will look to rebound this Saturday when it hosts Monmouth in a 12:00 noon contest.
