CHESTNUT HILL, MA - The Brown women's lacrosse team (2-2) dropped a 13-5 decision to Boston College (5-1) on Wednesday afternoon at BC. Senior Bethany Buzzell (Middletown, MD) scored her fourth goal of the season to tie the game at 1-1 early in the first half, but the Eagles outscored the Bears, 5-1, the rest of the half to open up a 6-2 lead at the break and pick up the victory.
After Kate Collins gave the home team a 1-0 lead 1:48 into the game, Buzzell answered off a feed from freshman Kaela McGilloway (Sea Cliff, NY) 51 seconds later to knot the game at 1-1.
The Eagles scored three straight over the next 10 minutes to take a 4-1 lead 12:21 into the game and then neither team scored over the next 10 minutes, as the score remained, 4-1.
McGilloway broke the scoreless drought, scoring an unassisted goal with 7:42 left in the half, and BC added two more from Maura Mahoney to hold a 6-2 lead at halftime.
The Eagles came out of the break and quickly went up, 7-2, as Jenna McCabe scored just 1:29 into the half. The two teams then traded goals for the next five minutes with senior Kelly Robinson (Marlton, NJ) and McGilloway each scoring for the Bears
Following McGilloway's goal 6:36 into the half, which made it 8-4 in favor of BC, the Eagles went on a four-goal run, capping it with 9:56 remaining, to take a 12-4 lead and put the game out of reach.
Robinson halted the run with her second of the game with 5:26 on the clock and Collins added her second with 2:55 remaining for the 13-5 final.
