New England Cup Rescheduled for November 11
October 30, 2011New England’s Top Small Sided Tournament has been RESCHEDULED! For the past two years, the tournament, held at Brown University, has SOLD OUT with over 500 participants! For all of you who could not sign up for our first date, lucky for you our tournament has been rescheduled due to weather conditions for Veterans Day, Friday November 11th from 8am-1pm.
Brown's 5v5 New England Cup Cancelled
The New England Cup 5v5 Tournament, sponsored by the Brown women's lacrosse team and scheduled for Sunday, October 30th, has been cancelled due to weather. A notice will be posted if and when the event gets rescheduled.
Women's Lacrosse Welcomes 13 Newcomers for 2011-2012 Season
Brown University head women's lacrosse coach Keely McDonald '00 has announced the addition of 13 talented newcomers, set to join the Bears this fall. The 12 members of the Class of 2015 and one member of the Class of 2012, nine of whom were high school All-Americans, represent nine different states with three players from California and two each from Connecticut and Pennsylvania. Also represented are Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Virginia.
Bears Recognized with 3rd-Highest GPA in the Country
The Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) has recognized the Brown women’s lacrosse team as one of nine schools (three each in Division I, II, and III) to have earned Merit Squad status for the 2011 season. The Bears, who came in with the third-highest GPA in Division I, were named a Merit Squad by virtue of having one of the top three team GPAs for the season, and join American and Stanford to earn the honor. Brown posted a team GPA of 3.450 and was earlier named one of 56 squads to earn Academic Squad status, while six members of the team were named to the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll. American led the way with a 3.493 GPA, while Stanford posted a 3.485.
