PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown Athletic Department, in conjunction with Learfield's Brown Bears Sports Properties, has announced an agreement with NESN (New England Sports Network) to televise a combined six games for the men's and women's lacrosse programs this spring on NESN or NESNplus. The network has expanded to Brown lacrosse after covering two men's and women's basketball games this past season.
NESN and NESNplus are available in over four million homes throughout the six-state New England region. Four of the six games will also be available nationally via NESN National. The definitive source for New England sports programming, NESN consistently has been one of the top-rated regional sports networks in the country, with a reputation for innovative and award-winning production of sports events and specials.
"We are excited to have our Iona and Louisville games available on NESN," said women's lacrosse head coach Keely McDonald. "Televising these games is great for growing the sport in the New England area and as another opportunity for our fans to see the game."
"We're thrilled to showcase Brown lacrosse on New England's premier sports station," said men's lacrosse coach Mike Daly. "I grew up watching the Red Sox on NESN and its programming is a staple for every New Englander."
Women's lacrosse will open up the Brown schedule with their game against Iona on Sunday, March 18 featured on NESNplus starting at 2:00 p.m. The first men's game is slated for the classic New England match-up between the Bears and UMass on Saturday, March 24 at noon. The women close out the March calendar on the 28th with a midweek battle with ACC foe Louisville at 1:00 p.m. Coach Daly's men's team will have three contests featured in April, starting with their two games for the Ocean State Cup against Providence (April 17) and Bryant (April 24), and concluding with their regular season finale versus Dartmouth (April 28).
Both the men's and women's contests at Harvard will also appear on NESNplus, with the men playing at Boston this Saturday, March 17, and the women facing the Crimson on Saturday, April 14.
In addition to being on NESN, the games will continue to be streamed on the Ivy League Network. All April games are subject to change due to the impending Boston Bruins playoff schedule.
