PROVIDENCE, RI – Women's lacrosse head coach Keely McDonald '00 has announced captains for the 2013 season. Seniors Lindsay Minges (Rochester, NY) and Tara Rooke (Wilbraham, MA) will be joined by junior Bre Hudgins (Syracuse, NY) in leading the Bears this year.
"I can't wait to work with these leaders," said McDonald. "They have diverse talents and styles that combine to make a dynamic leadership group. They have shown determination, work ethic and great care for their teammates throughout their careers. We are fortunate to have Bre, Lindsay and Tara representing Brown, our program, and our mission."
A three-year starter, Minges has played in 44 career games, staring 40. A valuable midfielder, she enters her final season with 48 career points (39g, 9a), 40 ground balls, 25 draw controls, and 34 caused turnovers.
Also a midfielder, Rooke has played in 38 career games, starting nine. She enters her senior season with 19 points (18g, 1a) to go along with 22 ground balls, 13 draw controls, and 10 caused turnovers.
A Second Team All-Ivy attacker in 2011, Hudgins enters her junior year with 72 points (60g, 12a) in 29 games, all starts. As a freshman in 2011, Hudgins ranked second on the team in scoring with 43 points and first on the team with 37 goals, sixth all-time at Brown and a Brown record for goals in a season by a rookie. Hudgins also ranked third on the team with 26 draw controls. She enters the 2013 season with 47 career draw controls, 31 ground balls, and 14 caused turnovers.
