LAST TIME OUT: Brown retained the Ocean State Cup, winning its fourth straight game against Bryant and third consecutive in the Ocean State Cup series, with a 17-7 victory over the Bulldogs on Tuesday. The Bears were led by senior Kaela McGilloway, who had her second straight 7-point game (4g, 3a), while freshman Alexandra Crerend and sophomores Bre Hudgins and Danielle Mastro all had 3 points (2g, 1a). 11 different players scored in the win with senior Julia Keller, juniors Lindsay Minges, Tara Rooke, and Kasey Wagner, sophomore Grace Healy, and freshmen Alyssa DiBona and Janie Gion also finding the back of the net. Healy led the Bears with seven draw controls, while DiBona had three ground balls and three caused turnovers to lead Brown in those categories. Freshman Kellie Roddy started her second straight game and picked up her second win of the season, recording four saves in 41:54. Senior Isabel Harvey stopped two shots in the final 17:46.
ALL-TIME VS. STANFORD: All-time, Brown is 2-2 against Stanford, following a 12-8 loss to the Cardinal in California last year. The Bears' last win in the series came in 2002 when Brown posted a 12-7 victory in Providence.
LAST MEETING VS. STANFORD: In the 2011 meeting against the Cardinal, which marked the first game between the two programs since 2003, Brown and then-#9 Stanford battled back-and-forth in the early going until a four-goal Stanford run midway through the first half broke open a 3-3 game. Brown clawed back into the game, coming to within 9-7 with 13 minutes left to play, but Stanford scored three unanswered goals to hold a 12-7 lead with nine minutes left. The Bears got one back in the 56th minute, but could get no closer in the final minutes. Bre Hudgins '14 led Brown with 4 points (3g, 1a), while Kaela McGilloway (2g), Lindsay Minges (1g), and Danielle Mastro '14 (2g) also scored. Alexa Caldwell '11 and Grace Healy '14 led Brown with two draw controls each, while Isabel Harvey '12 had a team-high three ground balls. Caldwell, Krissi Penikis '11 and Erin Roos '14 each had two caused turnovers, while Harvey made 12 saves.
TODAY'S OPPONENT: Having last played on March 11th, Stanford returns to action against the Bears, a game that kicks off a stretch of five straight road games for the Cardinal. After dropping three straight games to open the season, Stanford has gone 2-1 in its last three, including a 14-13 win over then #9 James Madison on February 25th.
