      <title>Bears Recognized with 3rd-Highest GPA in the Country</title>

      <description>The Intercollegiate Women&#x2019;s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) has recognized the Brown women&#x2019;s lacrosse team as one of nine schools (three each in Division I, II, and III) to have earned Merit Squad status for the 2011 season. The Bears, who came in with the third-highest GPA in Division I, were named a Merit Squad by virtue of having one of the top three team GPAs for the season, and join American and Stanford to earn the honor. Brown posted a team GPA of 3.450 and was earlier named one of 56 squads to earn Academic Squad status, while six members of the team were named to the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll. American led the way with a 3.493 GPA, while Stanford posted a 3.485.</description>

      <title>Six Women&#x2019;s Laxers Named to 2011 IWLCA National Academic Honor Roll</title>

      <description>Six members of the Brown women&#x2019;s lacrosse team are among 187 Division I student-athletes from across the country recognized on the 2011 IWLCA National Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible, student-athletes must be a member of the varsity lacrosse team, must have achieved junior or senior standing academically, and must have achieved a GPA of 3.20 or higher. Individually, Brown&#x2019;s six honorees was second in the country behind Stanford (7), and was the highest in the Ivy League. Columbia was second behind Brown with four honorees, while Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, Penn, and Princeton all had two honorees.</description>

Waterman was named First Team for the second straight year, while McGilloway earned a spot on the Second Team for the second year in a row. Hudgins was also a Second Team honoree, while Caldwell earned Honorable Mention accolades.</description>

With 36 points, the Bears also tied the school record for points in a game, accomplished against Holy Cross in 1986.</description>
