Brown to Face First Ranked Opponent of Season on Wednesay at #12 Boston University

PROVIDENCE, RI - Coming off a 14-6 season-opening victory over Sacred Heart, the Brown women's lacrosse team (1-0) travels to #12 Boston University (1-0) for a non-league match Wednesday afternoon at 4:00. The Terriers mark Brown's first opponent ranked in the national top-20, as the Bears will also face Penn (currently ranked #3), Duke (currently ranked #6), Princeton (currently ranked #9), and Dartmouth (currently ranked #20) this year.

In Saturday's game against the Pioneers, senior Bethany Buzzell (Middletown, MD) led all scorers with four points (3g, 1a), while junior Paris Waterman (Newark, DE) also scored three goals in the win. The Bears dominated from start-to-finish, building a 4-0 lead early and eventually taking a 13-3 lead, their largest of the afternoon, on sophomore Julia Keller's (Concord, MA) first career goal. Brown spread the scoring around against Sacred Heart, as four other players scored a goal and five other players had at least one point. Senior Kara Kelly (Garden City, NY), junior Alexa Caldwell (Middletown, DE), sophomore Kaela McGilloway (Sea Cliff, NY), all had two goals, while freshman Lindsay Minges (Rochester, NY) posted a goal and an assist in her collegiate debut.

Defensively, Brown was led by Waterman's three caused turnovers, while Kelly led the Bears with five ground balls and four draw controls. Sophomore Isabel Harvey (Baltimore, MD) earned the win in net with four saves.

Boston University is coming off a 10-8 win over UMass. Senior Traci Landy scored a game-high four goals in the win, while freshman Danielle Etrasco, the reigning America East Rookie of the Week, tallied four points (3g, 1a) in her first career game. Senior goalie Rachel Klein was named America East Defensive Player of the Week after recording eight saves in the victory.

Brown holds a 9-4 record over Boston University in the all-time series. However, the Terriers have won the past three meetings between the two schools, including a 16-4 victory during the 2008 season.
