DURHAM, N.H.-- Their individual hockey exploits share a number of parallels, but Kathleen Kauth and Kim Insalaco would instantly dispense with such nostalgia in lieu of an opportunity to write another chapter in their storied careers.
The Brown University graduates took a big step toward their collective goal as members of the 2005-06 U.S. Women's National Team in Sunday's 5-2 win over a team of Hockey East all-stars as part of The Hilton Family Skate to 2006 Tour.
Playing on head coach Ben Smith's fourth line, Kauth and Insalaco combined for a second-period goal that tied the game at 2-2. Kauth's marker, her third in 12 Tour games, signaled the first point as a Women's National Team member for Insalaco as well. Insalaco, held scoreless through six games, picked up the helper on Kauth's game-tying score after the pair rushed All-Star goaltender Kaitlyn Shain.
