Women's Ice Hockey's Kristy Zamora Picks up ECAC Player of the Week

Dec. 11, 2001

The honor came after a stellar weekend on the ice for the co-captain from Oshawa, Ontario, where she recorded four points in Brown's two games.

Zamora tallied an assist on Saturday December 8 in a 2-1 loss to Northeastern University. Zamora's assist came on the lone Brown goal of the game, scored by Jessica Link. Zamora came back on Sunday December 9, to tally a hat trick and lead the Bears to a 4-0 rout over Providence College. The tally was Zamora's first hat trick of the season, and third of her career. Incidentally, Zamora's last three- goal performance came in Brown's last visit to Providence in February 2001.

Against Providence College, Zamora first scored early in the first period, to give the Bears a 1-0 lead. She then recorded two goals in a twenty-five second span in the final period to give the Bears a convincing 4-0 lead and eventual final score over the Friars.

Zamora leads the team in points, with 8-4-12. She has tallied 45-31-76 in her career at Brown.

The Bears currently stand at 5-5-1, 4-3-0, and return to action after exams on January 4, for a contest at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI.
