Women's Ice Hockey To Host Mayor's Cup

Providence, RI - The Brown women's ice hockey team will host the 10th annual Mayor's Cup, taking on cross town rival Providence College, Saturday, November 27 at 7:00 p.m. at Meehan Auditorium. The Friars are currently holding the cup after their 4-1 victory over the Bears last season. Brown has won the cup five times while Providence has only been victorious twice since the inaugural Mayor's Cup in 1994.
This year will mark the 51st time these two squads have met. The Friars swept the season series last year, defeating Brown 4-1 and 2-1 in overtime. Currently Providence leads the series 29-19-2, but under the helm of head coach Digit Murphy, the Bears are 18-11-2 in the past 15 seasons against the Friars.
