Lake Placid, NY - Brown senior captain Hayley Moore (Wakefield, MA) is spending one of the last weeks of her summer training with the nation's best hockey players at the 2007 USA Hockey Women's National Festival in Lake Placid, NY. Moore is one of 66 players selected to attend the Festival, and is one of 27 players trying out for 22 spots on the U.S. Women's Under-22 Select Team that will host Canada for a three-game series from Aug. 23-26. The Festival began Tuesday, Aug. 14, and will end this coming Tuesday, Aug. 21.
The 66 players are split up into three teams at the Festival. Team White is comprised of the 22 players who will go on to represent the United States as part of the U.S. Women's Under-18 Select Team during a three-game series with Canada in Ottawa (Aug. 23-26). Meanwhile, Teams Blue and Red include the 27 players in the Under-22 range, along with 18 post-NCAA athletes.
Moore has been the Bears' top scorer the past two seasons, scoring 20 goals and 36 assists last season. Moore ranked 22nd in the country with 1.24 points per game and 15th with 0.69 goals per game. She also led the Bears with eight power-play goals and three game-winning goals, and tied for the team lead in shorthanded goals (1), plus/minus (+2), and unassisted goals (3). She was also second on the team with 16 assists. She had a team-high 14-game point streak, during which she had 25 points, and also notched team highs with a five-game goal streak and three-game assist streak. Two seasons ago, she had 25 goals and 18 assists en route to earning Second Team All-ECACHL and First Team All-Ivy honors. With 105 career points, she is already 17th all-time at Brown.
