March 8, 2002
Senior Kristy Zamora (Oshawa, Ontario), junior Cassie Turner (Campbellford, Ontario), and sophomore Katie Germain (Sarnia, Ontario) were each named to the First Team. Freshman Jessica Link (Clifton Park, NY) earned second team honors, while senior Meredith Ostrander (Prescott, Ontario) was named an Honorable Mention.
Kristy Zamora had an outstanding senior season. She totaled 28-19--47 on the season, which ranks 4th in the nation in points per game. She reached the 100 career point plateau on February 13 against Providence College, and currently ranks 12th on Brown's all-time career scoring list. Zamora's Co-Player of the Year honor marks the sixth time that a Brown player has received that recognition. The last player to achieve the feat was Ali Brewer '00.
Cassie Turner was also named to the First Team, and was the only unanimous selection on the First Team, recognizing her as the League's top defender. She tallied eight assists in Ivy contests this season. Turner recorded totals of 3 goals and 14 assists on the season. This is the second time she has been honored by the Ivy League, as last season she was an Honorable- Mention selection.
Katie Germain was the final player named to the First Team. The sophomore from Sarnia, Ontario was the League's top goaltender, maintaining a .949 save percentage and a 1.75 goals against average. Her overall totals rank first in the ECAC-North in GAA and save percentage.
Jessica Link was named to the second team, making her one of only two freshmen to earn either first or second team honors. The rookie had a solid first season with the team. She tallied nine goals and three assists in Ivy games, and totaled 17-15-32 in all contests this season, which ranked 3rd on the team.
Meredith Ostrander had another solid season with the Bears, playing both sides of the blue line all season. She totaled two goals and seven assists in Ivy games, and recorded 2-24-26 on the season for totals.
Brown (20-7-2, 12-3-1, 7-2-1) open the 2002 post-season against Yale on March 8 at Meehan Auditorium, where the two teams will compete in a best of three game series.
