Providence, R.I. - The NCAA has announced that Brown senior goalie Nicole Stock (Buffalo Grove, IL) is among 68 finalists to compete in the NCAA Frozen Four Skills Challenge in Washington, D.C. on April 10. Fans will have the opportunity to vote for the 32 athletes chosen to participate (16 male, 16 female), with voting running through Wednesday, February 18.
Nicole Stock has written her name liberally on the Brown record books over the last two years, as she now holds the mark for most saves in a period (27), single game (66), single season (1,004), and career (2,698). This season, Stock has continued her impressive play, recording a 3.29 goals against average and a .918 save percentage, and needs only 127 saves over the final five games to break her own mark for single season saves. Coming on strong as the season winds down, Stock has also been outstanding over the last two weekends, posting a 1.50 GAA and a .964 save percentage in four games.
The NCAA Selection Committee began with a list of 166 players, which was then trimmed down to 68 by the committee. Fans can now vote for their favorites among the 66 players, who are vying for the 16 spots on each team. The selection committee will take all voting into consideration prior to making its announcement of the final rosters mid-February.
The Frozen Four Skills Challenge will be held April 10 at the Pepsi Center in Denver and will highlight the "Friday Night at the Frozen Four." The night will also include the presentation of the Hobey Baker Memorial Award, the Hockey Humanitarian Award and the announcement of the American Hockey Coaches Association All-American teams.
