Providence, RI - For the second time this season, sophomore O'Hara Shipe (Anchorage, AK) earned Goalie of the Week honors, for performance in the Bear's 4-3, win over Princeton, on Saturday, January 7.
Shipe recorded her third win of the season, stopping 42 of 45 shots, in the victory for a .933 save percentage in the match-up. Under consistent pressure for most of the afternoon, Shipe bounced back from a three goal second period, to keep Princeton off the board in the final period, stopping all 17 shots, including a flurry in the final two minutes, as the Tigers pulled their goaltender looking for the equalizer. Shipe leads the young goaltending core of the Bears with a .929 save percentage this season and a 2.17 goals against average.
The Bears will travel to Clarkson and St. Lawrence this weekend for a 7:00 p.m. match-up with the Golden Knights on Friday, January 13 and a 4:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon face-off with the Saints. Both Clarkson and St. Lawrence are in the ranked in the top ten poll, having the Golden Knights rank ninth and the Saints rank third in the country.
