Providence, R.I. - Brown sophomore defenseman Erica Kromm (Naramata, B.C.) has been named the ECAC Hockey Player of the Week after scoring her first two goals of the season in a 2-1 victory over Northeastern on Saturday night.
Kromm, who scored six goals during her rookie season, had been shut out in the first half of the season, but provided all the offense that the Bears needed to take down the Huskies. After a scoreless first period, Kromm fired in a shot early in the second to give Brown a 1-0 lead. She came up big again in the third, scoring an even strength goal for a 2-0 lead that would prove to be insurmountable.
In addition to her offensive prowess, Kromm was also a major factor on the defensive end, skating as part of the top defensive pairing, and limiting Northeastern to a single goal late in the game. She also helped shut down the Huskies' power play, including an extended four-minute penalty kill in the second period.
The Bears will be back in action this weekend, as they host league rivals Harvard and Dartmouth at Meehan Auditorium.
