Bears Prove Too Much for Catamounts in 9-0 Rout

Nov. 10, 2001

Brown came out on fire in the first period, totaling 17 shots on goal. Goaltender, Tiffany Hayes was quite busy throughout the period, as much of the play was maintained in front of Vermont's net.

Sophomore Krissy McManus finally got the Bears on the scoreboard at the 19:15 mark. McManus received the puck down low from Courtney Johnson, and found the back of the net, putting the Bears up 1-0 going into the first intermission.

The second stanza was all Brown, as the Bears scored four goals in this period. Sophomore Sarah Crowley began the scoring at the 1:42 point, netting her second goal of the season. Sophomore Katie Lafleur was soon to follow, scoring at the 3:10 mark. Freshman Jessica Link scored her first goal of the game at 17:21 in the 2nd. The goal displayed Link's craftiness as a forward, as she weaved in and out of players on her way to sliding the puck just past Vermont's goaltender. Senior Kristy Zamora tallied the final goal of the period on a rocket that found the net just past Kami Cote's left shoulder.

The Bears would score four more goals in the third and final period, with junior Kate Kenny lighting up the board first. Kenny blasted a shot from the blue line, finding the upstairs of the net. On the next score, Krissy McManus displayed an impressive piece of work behind the net, holding onto the puck, eventually finding sophomore Marguerite McDonald at the top of the crease to make the score 7-0 in favor of the Bears. Link and junior Jenny Rice recorded the final goals for the Bears, making the final score 9-0.

Junior Courtney Johnson tallied four assists on the night, increasing her season totals to 0-7-7.

The Bears return to the ice on Friday November 16 for a 2:00pm contest against the University of Minnesota.
