Hamilton, NY - A two goal second period by Colgate, proved to be the difference as the Bears (1-2-0,0-1-0) fell to the Raiders, 3-0, in their conference opener this evening in Hamilton, NY. Sophomore goaltender O'Hara Shipe (Anchorage, AK) recorded the loss for the Bears, finishing with 25 saves.
The Raiders dominated the first period, out shooting the Bears 17-3, as Brown racked up four penalties in the opening frame. Colgate's first goal came at the 12:39 mark in the second, to give the Raiders a one goal lead. Colgate padded their lead on a power play goal eight minutes later, for a 2-0 score going into the second intermission.
The Bears offense controlled the flow of the game for most of the third period, but was unable to find the back of the net in this evening's loss. Senior defender Myria Heinhuis (Chatham, ONT) lead the Bears with six shots. The Raiders tacked on a power play goal late in the third period for the 3-0, victory.
The Bears will travel to Cornell, to take on the Big Red, Saturday November 5, in Ithaca, NY for a 4:00 PM face-off.
