Bears Dominate Princeton in the First Game of the ECAC Quarterfinal Series

The Brown University women's ice hockey team (17-10-2, 13-5-1) topped Princeton (20-10-2, 12-7-0), 2-1 Friday afternoon in the first game of the ECAC quarterfinal series at Meehan Auditorium. Sophomore Keaton Zucker (Gilford, NH) netted the game winner for the Bears in the third.
Although both teams remained scoreless in the first the Bears controlled the puck, out-shooting the Tigers 15-7. Brown also dominated in face-offs, winning 13 out of 20.
The Bears continued to keep the puck in the Tiger zone and netted the first goal of the game two minutes into the second period. Freshman Kathryn Moos (Wayzata, MN) and Zucker set up junior Jessica Link (Clifton Park, NY) outside of the net to notch her 26th goal of the season to give Brown a 1-0 lead. The Bears continued to out-shoot the Tigers in the second, 18-5.
Princeton came back in the third to knot the game at 1-1 with a goal at the 11:33 mark. The Bears answered back to net the game winner when Zucker notched her 13th goal of the season after a series of shots. Junior Amy McLaughlin (Berlin, MA) and sophomore Myria Heinhuis (Chatham, ONT) earned assists on the play.
In net, senior Katie Germain (Sarnia, ONT) earned her 15th win of the season with 17 saves in the game.
The Bears will return to action with Princeton, Saturday, March 13 at 2:00 p.m. for the second game of the ECAC quarterfinal series.
