The Brown University women's ice hockey team (16-10-2, 12-5-1) topped Yale (12-14-3, 8-10-0), 5-1 Sunday afternoon in their last regular season home game at Meehan Auditorium. Sophomore Lindsey Glennon (Exeter, NH) tallied two goals and an assist to lead the Bears.
Yale took a quick lead in the first just 1:28 into the period. However, Brown came back to score two goals to take a 2-1 lead. Glennon netted the Bears first goal at the 7:05 mark, her fourth of the season off passes from freshman Christine Holdredge (Ashley Falls, MA) and junior Krissy McManus (Dedham, MA). Sophomore Ashlee Drover (Bay Roberts, NF) wound up and shot the puck past the Yale goalie to give Brown a two-goal lead at the 16:49 mark. Keaton Zucker (Gilford, NH) and junior Jessica Link (Clifton Park, NY) tallied assists on the play. The Bears out-shot the Bulldogs 15-5 in the period.
Link faked out the goalie to notch her 25th goal of the season at the 12:10 mark to give the Bears a 3-1 advantage over Yale in the second. Glennon earned her second point of the day with the assist.
Brown added two goals in the third to seal the victory 5-1. Zucker tallied her 12th goal at the 14:52 mark with junior Amy McLaughlin (Berlin, MA) and Link earning the assists. With 45 seconds remaining in the game, Glennon added her second goal of the game, fifth of the season. Drover earned her second assist of the day on the play.
In net, senior Katie Germain (Sarnia, ONT) earned the win with 21 saves in the game.
With the win, the Bears clinched the fourth sed in the ECAC Playoffs and home ice for the quarterfinal round. Brown will host fifth-seeded Princeton, Friday, March 12 at 3:30 p.m. in the first game of the best of three series.
