Providence, RI - Behind senior Margaret Ramsay's two goals, the Brown women's ice hockey team advanced to the ECACHL Final Four with a 3-0 win over Dartmouth, giving the Bears a two game sweep of the Big Green. Freshman Nicole Stock was solid in net stopping all 18 shots including a penalty shot with six seconds remaining in the second period, keeping the Big Green off the board.
The Bears struck early in the game, cashing in on their first power play of the afternoon, just 3:19 into the opening period. With Brown deep in the Big Green zone, and passing around the Dartmouth penalty kill senior Myria Heinhuis fired a shot at the point that was tipped by junior Kathryn Moos to the near side where Ramsay was skating in. Ramsay hit the puck into the wide open net for the early one goal lead. The Bears kept the pressure off Stock only allowing four shots toward the Brown net in the first twenty minutes.
Ramsay struck again with 3:31 gone in the second when Meredith Batchellar's shot at the point was blocked by Katie Gray and bounced to the stick of Ramsay who was streaking in the neutral zone for a one on one with the Big Green's goal minder. Ramsay slid the puck under the right pad of Lane for the two goal lead with 16:29 to go in the second.
Dartmouth was able to get some good looks at the net in the second period, but Stock kept the puck from crossing the line. With six seconds remaining in the period there was traffic in front of stock and the puck trickled in the crease where sophomore Rylee Olewinski hit it out with her hand and was whistled for a penalty shot. Dartmouth's Shannon Bowman skated in on Stock and held her shot waiting for Stock to bite. Stock stood strong and closed the gap between her right pad and post quick keeping Dartmouth off the board going into the second intermission.
The Bear defense stiffened up and kept Dartmouth out of the zone for most of the final period keeping it a two goal game. Sophomore Hayley Moore tacked on a goal late in third when she fired a tipped shot by Olewinski into the back of the net for her 23rd goal of the season.
Brown will now head to Canton, NY to compete in the ECACHL Final Four taking on second seeded Princeton.
