Box Score

Providence, RI - Like the first match-up both Brown and Dartmouth played a very physical game, but a much different outcome followed having the Bears (14-13-2, 11-8-1) defeat the Big Green (23-5-0, 16-4-0) 3-1, in front of a stellar Meehan Auditorium crowd. With the victory the Bears moved into the sixth seed and will travel to St. Lawrence for the quaterfinal match-up with the Saints.

The Bears opened up the scoring 3:20, into the game when juniors Keaton Zucker (Guliford, NH) and Lindsey Glennon (Exter, NH) hooked up for the Bears' first goal. Glennon took Zucker's pass in the slot and one timed it past Big Green goaltender Kate Lane for the early one goal lead. Dartmouth freshman Nicole Ruta was penalized a ten minute game misconduct, for shooting the puck after the whistle that put the Bears on a power play with about eleven minutes to go in the period. The Bears capitalized on that power play when junior Ashlee Drover (Bay Roberts, NF) recorded her first goal of the season with 11:38, remaining in the first frame. Drover fired a rocket in the back of the net lighting the lamp and padding the lead to two. Freshman Hayley Moore (Wakfield, MA) and sophomore Kathryn Moos (Wayzata, MN) recorded the assists on Drover's goal.

Dartmouth pressured Brown's defense and freshman goaltender O'Hara Shipe (Anchorage, AK) through out most of the second period. Shipe rose to the occasion turning away all eight shots that she faced in the period and keeping the powerful Big Green offense off the board.

Senior Amy McLaughlin (Berlin, MA) added to the Bear's lead when she netted her fifth goal of the season. McLaughlin dumped the puck in the Big Green zone where Lane could not control it and had it hit off her skate and slide past the line for a three goal lead. Dartmouth cut the lead back to two when Cheryl Muranko picked up a free puck at center ice and took it in the Bear's zone, shooting it over the left shoulder of Shipe. But that would be it for the Big Green as Shipe stiffened up and stopped thirteen of the fourteen shots that period, finishing the game with 28 saves.

The Bears will travel to Canton, NY to face the Saints of St. Lawrence University for the ECACHL quaterfinal best of three series next weekend. Tonight's contest also marked the final home competition for Katie Guay, Jessica Link, Krissy McManus, Amy McLaughlin and Kerry Nugent. The five were recognized after this afternoon's game.
