Bears Fall To Clarkson, 3-2

Potsdam, NY - The women's ice hockey team (12-13-2, 9-8-1 ECACHL) fell to Clarkson by a score of 3-2, this afternoon in Potsdam, NY. The Bears came back on two occasion in today's match up, but the Golden Knights netted the winning goal with 12:48 remaining in the game.
With three Bears penalties in the opening period Clarkson controlled the flow of the game in Brown's zone. The Golden Knights pressured the Bear defense and freshman Stacy Silverman (Wakefield, MA) for most of the first period. Clarkson got on the board with 8:25, remaining in the period when Meaghan Park was left unmarked in front of the Silverman and put the puck in the back of the net for the one goal lead. The Bear's penalty kill stood strong in the first period killing all three penalties.
The Bears tied the game up at one 4:43 into the second period when freshman Heather Lane (London, ONT) netted her third goal of the season. Sophomore Christine Holdredge (Ashley Falls, MA) took a pass from senior Katie Guay and fired the puck at the Golden Knight's net, where goaltender Kira McDonald couldn't control the rebound having it bounce out to Lane who fired it past McDonald for the Bear's first goal. The Knights struck three minutes later when Jill Nolan put Clarkson back up by one. Junior Ashlee Drover (Bay Roberts, NF) tracked down Nolan who skated into the Bear's zone all alone. Silverman made the save, but Nolan was tripped up by Drover having her knock into Silverman knocking the puck past the goal line for the go ahead goal.
The Bears dominated most of the third period out shooting the Golden Knights 9-4. Brown tied the score with 14:55 left in the game when freshman Hayley Moore (Wakefield, MA) netted her ninth goal of the season. Sophomore Kathryn Moos (Wayzata, MN) fed a pass to junior Margaret Ramsay (Toronto, ONT) who fired the puck at Clarkson's net where Moore was waiting and redirected past McDonald. But, Clarkson answered less then a minute later to put the Golden Knights ahead for good. Silverman finished the game with 16 saves.
Brown will close out the regular season next weekend hosting Vermont and Dartmouth in two conference match-ups at Meehan Auditorium. On Friday February 25th the Catamounts will take the ice against the Bears for a 7:00 face-off. In an earlier meeting between the two squads Brown came out on top defeating UVM 1-0.
