Brown Buries Providence College 7-3, Zamora gets 100

Feb. 13, 2002

Behind a four goal performance in the first period, the Bears came out and dominated the Friars for much of the game.

The Bears struck first and early, as junior Jenny Rice lit the lamp at 2:20 of the opening period. Senior Kristy Zamora tallied her 23rd goal of the season, and put the Bears up 2-0 at 9:44 of the first. Jess Link and Mandy McCurdy assisted on the goal. Just 23 seconds later, sophomore Kelly Sheridan registered her 2nd goal in as three games, giving the Bears a 3-0 advantage. The Friars got on the board 12:24 into the game, when Kelli Halcisak netted her 7th goal of the season. Brown would get on the board once more before the first intermission, when junior Kim Insalaco tallied her 7th goal of the year.

Providence made the score 4-2, when Darlene Stephenson scored at the 7:02 mark of the 2nd period.

Freshman Jess Link scored 3:15 into the final period, with Meredith Ostrander and Katie Lafleur receiving the assists. Kerry Nugent made the score 6-2 at the 5:08 mark, with fellow freshman Jess Link assisting. Also recording a helper on the goal was Kristy Zamora, who with that assist earned her 100th career point. Zamora's totals now stand at 61-40-101. Zamora is the 15th player in Brown women's ice hockey history to achieve such a goal.

Fittingly, Zamora tallied Brown's final goal of the night, with Cassie Turner assisting. Providence got one final goal at the 13:14 mark of the final period, as Kelli Halcisak recorded her second goal of the night.
