Senior Jessica Link (Clifton Park, NY) continued her offensive dominance against Yale, getting involved in all three of Brown's goals, netting two and assisting on the third in this evening's 3-3, tie at Meehan Auditorium.
Yale came out hot scoring the first goal 2:35, into the game when Sheila Zingler, Jenna Spring and Nicole Symington connected for Symington's fifth goals of the season. Brown answered five minutes later on a power play goal by Link who redirected a shot from junior Myria Heinhuis (Chatham, ONT) for her first goal of the game getting the Bears on the board with 11:29, remaining in the period. With the Bulldogs on a power play with just over two minutes remaining, senior Amy McLaughlin (Berlin, MA) won the puck deep in the Yale zone and fed a pass to Link who put away her second goal of the game and gave Brown a 2-1 lead. The Bears would not stop there scoring 1:11, later to pad their lead to two going into the first intermission. Freshman Hayley Moore (Wakefield, MA) scored her fifth goal of the season when she fired a shot past Yale goaltender Sarah Love with 1:16 remaining in the period. Link and Heinhuis would get the assists on the play.
The Bears pressed the Bulldog defense hard in the first half of the second, but would come up empty. Brown could not cash in on two early back-to-back Yale penalties, finishing the game 1-5 on man advantages. With the Bears on a power play in the second, Deena Caplette cut the lead to one, netting her sixth goal of the season with Yale down a player. Freshman Stacy Silverman (Wakefield, MA) was tested in the second and third period having 21 shots fired at her and coming up with 19 saves in the two periods. Silverman finished the game with 23 saves.
Yale got the equalizer with 3:35 remaining in the game when Christina Sharun put the puck top shelf over Silverman knotting the score at three and sending the game to overtime. In the extra frame, Brown controlled the puck in the Bulldog's zone for most of the five minutes getting off three shots, but Love stopped everything preserve the tie for Yale.
The Bears will return to action tomorrow Saturday, January 29, when they will face-off against #9 Princeton for a 4:00 pm start.
