The Brown University women's ice hockey team (8-5-2, 4-1-1) dropped the second game of their two-game series with St. Lawrence (12-5-1, 5-1-0) 8-0 Saturday afternoon.
After suffering a 5-4 loss Friday night, the Saints opened up the game with another quick goal less than one minute into the game. St. Lawrence tacked on three more goals in the period to take a 4-0 lead. The Bears, quiet in the first, were out-shot by the Saints 11-10.
St. Lawrence added two more goals in the second to give themselves a 6-0 advantage over the Bears. One of the goals was scored on a power play three minutes into the period. Brown had a total of five penalties while St. Lawrence recorded only two in the period.
The Saints increased their lead to 8-0 in the third with goals at the 6:32 and 17:11 marks. The Bears remained scoreless and continued to round up the penalty minutes, tallying four in the period and 22 in the game.
The Bears will return to action on Saturday, January 24 in their Alumnae Game to celebrate 40 years of hockey at Brown. The game will begin at 12:00 p.m. with the Alumnae All-Stars skating against the 2004 Brown Bears.
