Women's Icers Battle #8 Princeton To Late Tie But Fall 2-1

Princeton, NJ - The Brown women's hockey team battled #8 Princeton even for nearly 57 minutes of play before the Tigers scored the game winner with 3:39 left in the game. The loss drops Brown to 6-7-3 on the season while the Tigers improve to 11-4-1.
After nearly 16 minutes of scoreless action, Princeton got on the board at the 15:22 mark with a power play goal. The Tigers leading scorer Andrea Kilbourne netted her seventh goal of the season with Gretchen Anderson and Nikola Holmes earning assists. The Bears did not let Princeton hold the lead for long as they tied the game 1-1 three minutes later with a power play goal of their own. Senior Cassie Turner sent in a bullet from the left face-off circle for her fourth goal of the season, which already equals her three-year goal total. The Bears leading scorer sophomore Jessica Link and senior Kim Insalaco assisted on the goal.
The second period went scoreless as both Brown senior Pam Dreyer and Princeton's Megan Van Beusekom were solid in net. Dreyer made 11 stops while Van Beusekom made nine in the period.
After 38 minutes of scoreless action, the Tigers scored the game-winner at the 16:21 mark of the final period. Anderson one-timed the puck past Dreyer on a pass from Kilbourne to give Princeton a 2-1 win.
Brown returns to action tomorrow, Saturday Jan. 11 at 4:00 at Yale.
